How to add assignments and bots to your LMS with share links

Goal

Add BoodleBox assignments or bots to your LMS course so students can open them directly from the LMS — without hunting for them separately in BoodleBox.

BoodleBox does not currently support LTI deep linking, so you don't embed items through an "external tool" picker. Instead, you paste a BoodleBox share link into your course as a URL / link item. Students click it, sign in, and land right in the assignment or bot.

Before you start

• Have the assignment or bot ready in BoodleBox to add the link to the LMS.
• Decide who can open it. On an assignment, Settings → Only allow enrolled users restricts access to people who have been enrolled in your course on BoodleBox; turn it off to allow anyone with the link (preferred, unless otherwise stated by your institution).
• This works with any LMS that lets you add a URL or web-link item — including Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, and Moodle.

Steps

1. In BoodleBox, open the assignment or bot you want students to use.

2. Copy its share link.

   • Assignment share links look like box.boodle.ai/s/{assignment_id}.
   • Bot share links look like box.boodle.ai/a/{bot_alias}.

3. In your LMS, create a new module or assignment item and choose External URL / Link to add the BoodleBox assignment or bot link.

4. Paste the BoodleBox share link as the URL and give the item a clear name, e.g. "Week 3 — Socratic Writing Coach." If your LMS offers it, set the link to open in a new tab.

   • You can also add an image to any module and link the image directly to the bot or assignment you want students to complete.

5. Save and publish. Students click the link in your course, authenticate through SSO / LTI (if configured), and land directly in the BoodleBox assignment or bot.

Verify it's working

• The link appears in your LMS course and opens the correct BoodleBox assignment or bot when clicked.
• Enrolled students see the assignment automatically once they're in BoodleBox, and can preview it before the start date.
