Creating accessible content in BoodleBox
Goal
Make the content you create in BoodleBox usable by everyone. BoodleBox makes its own interface accessible, but the content you add is up to you.
Assignment directions
Use headings for each part of the directions, in order, instead of bold text. Screen reader users jump between headings to find their place.
Use real lists for steps and requirements.
Write link text that makes sense on its own, such as "Read the case study" rather than "click here".
Don't rely on color to show meaning, such as "the items in red are required". Say it in words.
Keep instructions short and plain. Break long directions into steps.
Images and files
Describe images. When you add an image, describe what it shows, either in its description or in the text around it.
Share accessible documents. Use files with real text, headings and tagged tables rather than scanned pages. See Best practices for formatting documents.
Caption videos. If you link a video, make sure it has captions.
Custom bots
Add formatting guidance to your bot's instructions so every reply is easy to follow. For example:
"Use short headings and bulleted lists."
"Describe any image or chart in words."
"Reply in one language per message."
See Designing effective bot instructions.
