Troubleshooting Boxes
Goal
Understand the messages you might see in a Box, and fix the most common problems.
Messages you might see
Message | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
"You don't have access to this box" | You haven't been added, and the Box's General access doesn't let you in. Ask the Box's owner to add you by email or widen General access. |
"This box no longer exists" | The Box was deleted. Its chats were moved to the owner's main chats list, and its files are gone. Click Back to my boxes. |
"This chat was moved" or "This chat was deleted" | Someone moved the chat out of the Box or deleted it while you had it open. Click New chat to start a fresh one in the Box. |
"Only whoever uploaded a document can delete it" | Files can only be deleted by the person who added them. Ask them to delete it. |
"This folder has other people's chats or documents in it, so you can't delete it." | Move your own chats out, then ask the others to move theirs, or leave the folder as it is. |
Common problems
Someone didn't get the invite email. Ask them to check their spam folder; see Troubleshooting BoodleBox emails going to spam. You can also send them the Box's link yourself.
I invited someone who doesn't have a BoodleBox account. They need to create an account before they can open the Box.
I can't @mention someone in a Box chat. In a Box, you can only mention people who are already in the Box. Add them to the Box first; see How to share a Box and add people.
I can't find Move to Box on a chat. Only the chat's owner can move it.
I want to leave a Box. You can't leave on your own yet. Ask the owner to remove you.
The AI isn't using my starred files. In a Box, Box Knowledge takes the place of starred files. Add the file to the Box in Box Settings.
I can't find Memory Mode. Box chats draw on the Box's other chats on their own, so Memory Mode isn't offered.
I can't make a folder inside a folder. A Box has one level of folders for now.
A mention notification took me somewhere unexpected. Mention notifications for a Box chat open the chat inside its Box, with the Box's instructions and files. If you don't see the Box, ask its owner to check you're still a member.
Known issues while Boxes is in beta
Image chats ignore Box instructions. Image chats may not follow Box instructions yet. Put the style you want in the prompt itself.
