How to connect your LMS for SSO

Goal

Connect BoodleBox to your Learning Management System (LMS) through Edlink so students and faculty can sign in through the LMS they already use — including LTI 1.3 launch directly from a course, with no separate sign-in screen.

Before you start

• Confirm your LMS is supported: Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle, or Schoology. Edlink's linked docs are the reference for LMS-side configuration.
• BoodleBox will not open in an iframe inside of the LMS, so plan to open BoodleBox links in a new tab.
• Know the timeline: Edlink approval can take up to 48 hours, plus up to 24 hours of propagation after approval. Plan for SSO to take up to 2–3 weeks to set up end to end, including rostering.

Steps

1. Click the BoodleBox Edlink integration link: https://ed.link/integrate/231f9d64-bdb9-4cc1-babc-1787d618e2aa

2. Select your LMS from the supported platforms list and follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Authorize the connection between your LMS and BoodleBox, then submit for approval.

4. For LTI 1.3 (Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard), complete the platform-specific configuration:

   • Canvas requires two separate Developer Keys — one to connect Canvas as a data source to Edlink, and a second specifically for the LTI configuration. Confirm the admin's email is added as a BoodleBox team member (this triggers the Edlink sharing rule SSO requires), and confirm the Client ID in your LTI placement matches the LTI key, not the data-source key.
   • Brightspace (D2L) uses a standard LTI 1.3 registration via Edlink. Set links to open in a new tab/window — custom domains can trigger iframe blocking.

5. Wait for approval and processing. Once approved, allow up to 24 hours for your school's information to appear in both Edlink and BoodleBox. Users may not be able to log in immediately — this is expected.

6. Test the configuration: click a course link, land in BoodleBox without a separate sign-in screen, and engage without errors.

Common issues

• 400 error on launch from the LMS → User not provisioned, or propagation not complete. See Troubleshooting SSO and sign-in errors.
• BoodleBox won't load inside the course frame → set the link to open in a new tab/window; iframe embedding is blocked in many LMS configurations.

Good to know

• The integration is only available for users associated with a paid team at the institution.
• Existing BoodleBox accounts auto-associate when the LMS email matches the BoodleBox email. Faculty with personal accounts under a different email may hit conflicts — contact success@boodle.ai to assist.
