Understanding common error messages

Goal

Know what BoodleBox's most common errors mean and what to do about them.

"Ahhh nuts and bolts! Something went wrong, please try again"

This almost always means the AI model is temporarily unavailable on the provider's side (a brief outage or rate limit) — not a problem with your account.

  • Wait a moment and retry — these are usually short-lived.
  • Need to keep working? Switch to a different model: type @ in the chat box and pick another, or click the model name to open the picker (see How to switch the AI model you're chatting with).

"400 error" when signing in

Usually means your account isn't on your institution's team yet. Ask your admin to confirm you've been added. See Troubleshooting SSO and sign-in errors.

File upload errors

Check the file is a supported type within the size limits (see Supported file types and size limits). Image errors are usually because the image is too large for the model.

If an error sticks around

Report it (see How to report a bug) with what you tried, the model(s) involved, when it started, and whether it affects one bot or all of them.
